Day 1 - Marina del Sur (Tenerife) to Marina San Sebastián (La Gomera): 25 NM's

Garajonay National Park charter

Starting from Marina Del Sur in Tenerife is perfectly situated to embark on your adventure through the Canaries! Slowly make your way NE and soak up the superior scenery, check the volcano on the island of Tenerife, it normally has snow around the crater. Once you are on the west of the island, you will experience your first acceleration zone which can catch people off guard, it is best to prepare for this before you enter the zone. Follow the marked channel into the well serviced Marina San Sebastián. The Marina has all the basic amenities such as Wifi, water, fuel, electric and some shops. Once you're moored up, enjoy the quaint, well-kept town of La Gomera. If you have time, check out the Garajonay National Park pictured above!

An alternative anchorage is to drop anchor in front of Argaga, SE of the harbour. If the weather is blowing a southerly, this anchorage would not be best suited as it is exposed. The facilities, if moored up to the beach wall has electric, water and showers.

Day 3 - Sail to Puerto dela Estaca (El Hierro): 35 NMs

Puerto dela Estaca - el hierro

The small port of La Estaca is located in the north-east of El Hierro, about 7km from the island capital of Valverde. The marina has around 120 berths for yachts and smaller boats, meaning this is a reliable place to spend the evening! The marina provides drinking water, electricity and showers. If you want to hire a car for the day (or two days) you can rent them from the ferry terminal. The scenery on these islands is both dynamic and dramatic! The huge, red hills tower over the port below - it truly is very magical.

Day 4 - Sail back to Tenerife: 65 NMs.

Los Cristianos . tenerife

This leg of the journey is long, but can provide some absolutely, unforgettable sailing! This leg will take the best part of 12 hours that can be done in three parts if you have an inexperienced crew (stopover in San Sebastien followed by another show trip to Los Cristianos) then all it requires on the final day is a short sail around to your starting point in Marina Del Sur.
